In an age long past, the dark elves danced under the stars with their pale cousins, and the spheres of magic were united under one school. However, for some the temptation of power outweighed traditional ethics, and the resulting rift drove both the drow, and their sinister teachings, deep beneath the Realm's surface. Bolstered by the lightless world of the Underdark, the school of mages learned to channel energies through shadows and chaos, granting powerful spells of vast destruction and elusive defense. Akin to their despised surface wizard brethren, mages possess talents of enchantment and summoning, as well as the secrets of invisibility and teleportation. But unlike the wizard's benign pursuit of knowledge, the mage hungers for absolute power and control.
